Preserving the legacy of a culinary artist
Edna Lewis Foundation

Not nearly enough people know that Edna Lewis was one of the first southern African-American chefs to start her own restaurant in New York City. No easy feat. Beyond being a great chef, she was also dedicated to teaching others about the rich history of Southern African-American cookery. So, naturally, when the foundation that honors her work asked us to create a brand identity that lived up to her legacy, we paired her striking profile with three of her favorite ingredients, fresh from the farm – tomatoes, kale, and okra.
